Switching Characteristic Of Barium Vanadate Glasses Doped With Iron Oxide

Semiconducting barium banadate glasses (BVG) doped with iron were prepared in order to investigate their switching characteristics. Switching in these semiconducting glasses was found to follow the electrothermal model. Structural modifications in the glassy matrix occurred and appeared after the first switching. The activation energy for switching was calculated and the value found to be lower than that estimated from dc conductivity measurements. The results show a discontinuity for the threshold voltage with Fe3+ content.
