Austrian glassmaker Riedel has introduced new glasses & a collection of tableware under the Nachtmann name. Vitris is the name of Riedel's tallest machine-made lead crystal glass." The stem is pulled from the bowl, making a stronger glass as their is only one joint, between the stem & base. As with other Riedel glasses, they are designed to complement the characteristics of the main grape varieties. Vitis glasses cost around £25 each & come in boxes of two. Riedel has also unveiled a "multifunctional" compact glass, Tyrol, for casual dining and glass tableware called Dancing Stars under the Nachtmann brand. Another stemware manufacturer, Les Vinalies, is extending its distribution. Three crystal glasses were designed for red, white and sparkling wines, in association with sommeliers and oenologists involved with L'Union des Oenologues de France.
