Sustainable Use Of Glass Facades And Roofs

The importance of glass in modern architecture has grown very quickly in the past few years. As a result, standardisation and the introduction of technical regulations are far behind the innovations. At present very few rules for design exist, which all have a big margin of safety. This leads to an uneconomical usage of the lateral. In this research project, different glass products, different constructions and loads have been examined. Various fixings and supports have also been looked at with the aim of showing that by choosing suitable construction material and optimisation of design and construction, an essential contribution to sustainable, ecological and economic building can be achieved.
