Surface Tension Of Bi2O3-B2O3-Sio2 Glass Melts

The surface tensions of Bi2O3-B2O3-SiO2 melts were measured using the ring method over the temperature range 973-1573K. The compositional and temperature dependences of surface tension were investigated. Surface tension decreased with decreasing SiO2/B2O3 ratio and showed a maximum near 50-60 mol% Bi2O3 at 1273K.
