Study On The Chemical Durability Of A New Phosphate Glass For Precision Moulding

A new phosphate glass with low transition temperature Tg and good chemical durability as been developed. The chemical durability of this glass is studied by measuring the rates of weight loss in solutions with different pH values at different temperatures. It is shown that the dissolution mechanism of the glass can be divided into two periods: the hydration process and the hydrolysis process. The activation energy for dissolution of the hydration process is 37.2kJ/mol and of the hydrolysis process is 60-80 kJ/mol. In terms of this experiment, the dissolution mechanism of this glass is consistent with the activation energy values for the dissolution process.
