A Study On The Backward Fragmentation Of Window Glass And The Transfer Of Glass Fragments To Individual'S Clothing

The evidential value of finding glass fragments on a suspect's clothing can be of great significance when dealing with break and enter investigations. To permit a better understanding of backward fragmentation, a study was undertaken to determine the size distribution of glass fragments, as well as the relationship that exists between finding glass fragments originating from the back surface, the front surface and the core of a windowpane. The results of the glass fragments collected on a grid as well as on two individuals standing in front of the windowpane are discussed.
