A Study On Acid Resistance Of Fluorocarbon Resin Coatings "Lumiflon"

The fluoropolymer-melamine film showed good acid resistance as to the spot test in a temperature range of 40 to 80 deg C., compared with the acrylic polymer-melamine film. Acid spotted areas of both films were analysed by SEM, FT-IR, CP-MAS, and XPS. Analysis showed that the triazine ring in the acrylic polymer-melamine film was hydrolysed to cyanuric acid, which was removed from the film surface, but that in the fluoropolymer film was hard to be hydrolysed and consequently remained in the film. XPS also revealed that there was a greater amount of melamine on the surface of the acrylic polymer film than the fluoropolymer film.
