Structural Glass Fin Under Blast Loading

Structural glass fins have been used in high end architectural buildings since the mid 1990s, where the glass fins have primarily been designed for static loads. Because of the glass bottle and spontaneous loading, structural glass fins has not been utilized for high dynamic blast loading. This paper describes a structural glass fin spanning 6m which is subjected to blast loading. The fin system was initially tested via a desk top analysis, and afterwards tested in a 1:1 mock-up. The paper concludes on the differences between the desk-top analysis and the mock-up, and discusses the findings in the test.
