Striving For Innovation

This article provides an overview of Saint-Gobain's Eggborough manufacturing site. Initially, the company was conceived primarily to service the flat glass requirements of UK-based Saint-Gobain's downstream customers. However, a decade later the independent sector's needs have grown significantly, taking an increased proportion of output. Float, laminated and coated materials are produced, including SGG Planitherm Total low E glass, solar control products from the SGG Coolite range, and self-cleaning glass known as SGG Bioclean. In addition, SGGUK has developed products such as SGG Planitherm 4S combining low-E and solar control glass functions aimed at the conservatory glazing market. Operations Director Steve Severs discusses the factory's progress as its 10th anniversary approaches.
