Stresses In Azs Fused-Cast Blocks During Heat-Up

Heat-up of a glass furnace is a critical period for the thermo-mechanical behaviour of AZS fused-cast refractories. However, control of heat-up procedure has remained largely empirical. This paper details the results of a study of the stresses which develop in the refractories during heat-up and looks at ways of minimising them.
