Machineable glass ceramics are attracting great interest as restorative material in dentistry. They show stain resistance, a hardness match to that of natural steel material and a translucency that is superior to other ceramic materials. The machineability of these glass ceramics allows the production of precise and inexpensive dentures, e.g. inlays or crowns, in modern CAD-CAM systems.
