Stolzle-Oberglas Lausitz Doubles Drinking Glass Capacity

The third drinking glasses production line was commissioned at the Weisswasser plant in Saxony earlier in October. A total of DEM 5.5m has been invested and the workforce will increase from 118 to 146. The announcement of a new production line is a success for the company and for Austrian group Stolzle-Oberglas. The Austrians took over the former Luasitzer Glaswerke Weisswasser in Oberlausitz, Lower Saxony in 1996. Last year the works operated to its capacity limits. Stolzle-Oberglas has now decided to double capacity to 34m glasses by incorporating a thrid production line. In the first half of 1999 turnover, at DEM 9.8m was 25% above the previous year's level and also higher than forecast. Turnover for the year as a whole is expected to reach DEM 20m (previous year 15m). Sales in t he domestic market incrased sharply, up by 40%.
