Steuben Glass' has announced that the company intends to bid on the US State Department's contract to provide crystal stemware for over 400 American embassies & embassy residences worldwide. Steuben COO Mark Samitt also said that while the company's high-level crystal products are made in Corning, part of its stemware production has been outsourced to Germany & Europe."If Steuben Glass wins, the company's goal is to fulfil the contract using American workers wherever possible. A project such as this would help us to reinforce our operations & try to keep jobs here in America." Michael Broidy, VP, corporate affairs for Steuben's corporate parent, Schottenstein Store Corp. of Columbus, OH echoed those sentiments: "We are pleased the State Dept will give fair opportunity to US companies like Steuben Glass to bid on the contract to provide stemware to US embassies worldwide."
