Some Observations On The Fluorescence Of Glass

Fluorescence measurements have been made on representative optical glasses, glasses of standard composition made under different manufacturing conditions and a borosilicate containing cadmium sulphide (yellow filter glass). The relation between fluorescence and solarisation was investigated and it was shown that the requirements for improving fluorescence and solarisation characteristics tended to be contradictory.
