Some Comments On The Specific Energy Consumption Of Glass Melting Furnaces

Current moves to reduce CO2 emissions, which will involve the use of emission rights to encourage energy savings, may well change the way in which the question of energy usage is considered. One of the problems associated with the subject is the number of factors involved. It is very difficult to compare or analyse the influence of these factors on operating installations, and so most of the data used here is derived from mathematical models of two theoretical furnaces. However, the two furnaces are closely based on existing installations actually in operation. Both are end-fired regenerative units.
