This article details the strategy behind a Chinese glassmaker's decision to set up a new R&D centre to develop energy-saving glass products. Xinyi Glass was founded in 1988 and is one of the primary glassmakers in China with customers in over 100 countries and regions. With more than 7500 members of staff it offers products and solutions for the float glass, automotive and architectural, and photovoltaic (PV) glass markets. Xinyi Glass has been the top exporter from China for 4 consecutive years, capturing over 15% of the global automobile glass replacement sector and more than 10% of the Low-E energy-saving glass in the architectural market. Its production capability of front autoglass ranks first in China.
