Soft Drink Market Predicted To Improve

A recent report on trends in global demand for carbonated soft drink containers predicts that the total market will grow at an average rate of 4.7% until 2001 with glass remaining the leading material worldwide, but achieving only a modest improvement after the decline of the last decade. Although plastic bottles are expected to enjoy the fastest growth of any soft drink container type, partly because of a shift towards larger, multi-serving containers, glass will benefit from rising demand for soft drinks in the growing markets of China and Brazil. Southern Asian markets provide good opportunities for long term growth but ultimately, loss of market share to plastic and metal will limit growth almost everywhere. The market for soft drink containers worldwide has fallen on average 1.3% per year over the last decade. This report is issued by the Freedonia Group.
