A Chinese investor will reportedly take part in the construction of the soda ash plant in Gomel Oblast. The Construction & Architecture Ministry of Belarus and a Chinese company have already signed an investment agreement, said Antoly Lis, Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister, adding: "We have started developing the deposit. It has been explored already." The plant, which will have the capacity of 280,000/tpa, will produce soda ash for glass, chemical and other industries. The plant will sell its products domestically to satisfy domestic demand, which stand a at about 120,000/tpa, as well as internationally. The plant will be built in Mozyr District where the biggest deposit of rock salt, used in the production of soda ash, are located.
