Research Fronties Inc., a developer of smart window and light control technology, is now delivering multi-gallon quantities of its suspended particle device (SPD) film-making emulsion to its licensee, Material Sciences Corp., San Diego, a large supplier of specialty films for windows. The SPD technology permits light transmission to be electrically controlled instantly either automatically or by the user. The technology can be used in a variety of applications including goggles, self-dimmable automotive sunroofs, sun visors, and rearview mirrors, as well as bright, high contrast flat panel information displays. Currently 3 companies, MSC, Hankuk Glass Industries and General Electric Company are licensed to make SPD film and sell it to other licensees.
