Smart Cork Technology Gets Wine Sector Talking

Wine retailers, distributors, wholesalers and buyers could soon simply scan special RFID-equipped wine corks to discover more about a wine's provenance, vintage, alcohol content and grape variety. Italian RFID inlay and label specialist Lab-ID has perfected a way to insert RFID tags incorporating Philips ISO 15693 I-Code 13.56MHz chips into the artificial corks becoming increasingly popular worldwide. Each chip has 1,024 bits of memory; the "Smart Corq" inlays are inserted within special plastic carriers and destroyed on opening. For more information email: info@lab-id.com
