In-Situ And 02 Laser Sensor For Burner Control In Glass Furnaces

A newly-developed laser sensor system for measuring CO and O2 in the burner ports of industrial glass furnaces is presented. Practical test results of the use of this sensor for monitoring the combustion process and for controlling the burners are given, for both an end-port fired regenerative furnace and an oxy-gas fired furnace. The use of the sensor for reducing NOx emissions and improving the energy efficiency of glass furnaces is demonstrated.
