Turkish glass maker Sisecam will open its third glass plant at Targovishte, north-eastern Bulgaria, at the beginning of 2007, its local Trakia Glass Bulgaria unit said on 13 December 2006. The latest addition to the glass-manufacturing complex will make mirrors and items to order using flat glass made by another Sisecam unit in Targovishte. Sisecam's flagship Bulgarian unit was a household glassware plant which started operations in July 2005. In early 2006 the company added a flat glass plant. The two plants consume 200,000/t sand and 60,000/t sodium carbonate per annum supplied by local firms. Sisecam was the first foreign investor entitled to Bulgarian state funding for infrastructure for its EUR 166.3m investment.
