Silica Sands From North Africa And Calcined Lime And Dolomite

Over the last 10 years, the offer of silica sands coming from North African countries has greatly increased. These sands are interesting for their natural high purity and the large size of the quarries. However, control of grain size distribution and of the type and content of heavy minerals is very important. This article examines the use of calcined lime and dolomite to give support to the glass industry in order to reduce CO2 emissions and save energy during the melting process.
