Sibor 1 - A New Oxidation Protective Coating For Molybdenum Parts In Glass Industry

SIBOR-coatings are produced by plasma spraying of powder consisting of silicon and 10 wt% boron. They are applied onto sand-blasted molybdenum surfaces with thicknesses of 100 to 200mm with a robotic system. Depending on applications they are used as-coated or heat-treated. This paper describes why they are needed.
