Shear lubricants used in the forming area of a glass plant are normally disposed of with the wastewater. In order to prevent pollution, these oils are biodegradable so that any waste disperses without trace, however, biodegradable oils can create adverse oil/water reactions,particularly in locations where the water is hard and contains high levels of minerals such as calcium.
