BDF (Boscato & Dalla Fontana) claims finally to have brought IS machines into the electronic age by introducing mechanisms which had been missing of years. The company says its Servo-Invert and Servo-Take-Out mechanisms carry features which improve the manufacturing process and working environment, and include energy-saving measures. The Italian-based company decided on this line of development with various considerations in mind. The cost of rejects and handling defects, as well as the combined costs of compressed air, noise, pollution and maintenance in respect of constant cushions all pushed for the application of servo motors on mechanisms able to work on contact with glass. From tests carried out in glass factories, it has been proved that the production of defects on finished articles can be reduced, and improvement in production efficiency up to 2% possible.
