As a low priced commodity, it is often less expensive to process a low grade ore body near the market place than to transport sand over long distances. As a result, silica sand process design is highly important to maximise returns on what can be a relatively low quality deposit. In this article the author review the different methods of processing silica sand alongside an illustration of how the discrete methods can be combined to produce a workable flowsheet.
