For 20 years since its first edition in Singapore in 1986, the Glassman exhibition of primary glassmaking machinery, materials and services has been held in many different parts of the world to bring the latest developments in technology and techniques to glassmakers' doorsteps. For 2006, the Glassman exhibition will return to South America and to the Hotel Transamerica in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It moves to South America at a time of strong growth throughout the continent, particularly in Brazil. Brazil hosts a broad-based mixture of multinational and local glassmakers operating in all sectors. Glassmakers in neighbouring countries are equally active and growing. This article presents an overview of the situation in South America. For more information on Glassman, which takes place on 5-6 April, please see: www.glassmediaonline.com
