Saint-Gobain/Wacker Chemie Joint Venture Vetoed

The European Commission has adopted a decision opposing a joint venture between Societe Europeenne des Produits Refractaires (SEPR), owned by Saint-Gobain group, and Elektroschmelzwerk Kempten (ESK), a subsidiary of Wacker Chemie. The Commission ruled that the new company would have controlled more than 60% of the market for silicon carbides. (whole item)
