Saint-Gobain Opens Plant In Czech Republic

Saint-Gobain has launched a new plant in the Czech Republic, the country's foreign investment agency CzechInvest announced 12/07/05. The EUR 12.3M plant, known as Saint-Gobain Sekurit CR at Horovice, 37 miles south of Prague, will make auto glass for upper-end & luxury vehicles & will employ at least 100 people. " This production is demanding not only in a technical & technological respect but also in terms of needing a skilled workforce," said J Horska, of CzechInvest's investment department. In a filing with French stock market supervisor AMF, Saint-Gobain SA said 13/07/05 that it repurchased 2.72M of its own shares between 4-13 July/05 for a total of EUR 125.7M.
