Saint-Gobain Glass India recently announce it plans to invest around US$ 184M in projects over the next two years. MD Mr B Santhanam said US$ 147M would be spent on its new facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, which is currently being built. Upgrades to the existing facility in Chennai and the newly-acquired Sezal Glass float glass plant in Gujarat were also announced. When operational, the Bhiwadi plant will have a 300kt/pa capacity. The Gujarat plant would have two assembly lines with capacity of 550/tpd. He stated that the Indian glass industry is showing a 10% year-on-year growth.
