The Financial Times has announced that Saint-Gobain's Eggborough plant has been voted Factory of the Year 2005. These awards are run by the Cranfield School of Management. Not only did the site pick up the major prize, Deloitte Factory of the Year, it also won the categories for Best Process Plant; Health, Safety and Environment; and the Yorkshire and Humber regional award. It was also nominated for the People Management award. Site manager, Alan McLeanaghan said the entry was the culmination of years of internal benchmarking the factory against other SG plants around the world. "On standards such as safety, quality, and production cost, we are number one or two in the group, so we thought it was time to apply," he said. Cranfield said that the plant had demonstrated "exemplary performance" in all areas. For more details log on to www.ft.com/ftreports
