Safe Handling Of Flat Glass

In a float glass production facility, effectively the product is handled in one of two ways; either by placing the glass packs on stillages or handling the packs directly without any form of support. If the glass packs are positioned on stillages, Italcarrelli's PTN330 in-loaders and TPEN330 platform transporters provide an optimal handling solution. Both machines take the racks and lift them up to allow transportation. Thanks to a device called a "hydropush", the glass packs are safely locked during transportation. In-loaders and platform transporters are capable of moving a huge quantity of packs (e.g. up to 10 at a time, with a total weight up to 33 tonnes) from the end of a float line to the warehouse and from the warehouse to the processing lines or directly to the shipping areas. These machines are not in direct contact with the glass (except for the hydropushes) but just with the stillage, so the risk of possible damage to the glass during transportation is very low.
