Schott Pharmaceutical opened its new site for the production of pharmaceutical products in Nizhny Novgorod on 1 June 2011. Taking part in the opening ceremony are: Nizhny Novgorod Governor; Valery Shantsev, Plenipotentiary Representative of RF President in Volga Federal District; Grigory Rapota, chairman of the group of companies Schott (Germany); and Udo Ungehoyer. In a solemn ceremony of the event, participants will click with a symbolic key, switching on the company's operations. The new Russian plant "Schott" will produce high-quality pharmaceutical glass packaging, including a wide range of bottles with capacity from 1-100ml with different designs of the neck and capsules of various types from 0.5-50 ml. The company will operate in accordance with international requirements & standards for pharmaceutical packaging. This will be possible thanks to ultra-modern production equipment, systems, visual inspection & very clean rooms. Ampoules & vials produced at the plant will be supplied to the Russian market & CIS countries. Investment in the project amounted to 600M rubles. Currently, 60 jobs have been created. The medium-term plan is to increase the number of staff to 200. The entire staff received special training for the production of pharmaceutical packaging of high quality. In 2007, Schott opened in a plant for the production of flat glass for home appliances in the town of Bor.
