Pilkington has declared that it is involved in a joint venture to set up a facility in the Ulyanovsk Region for the production of energy-efficient float glass with an investment of 7BN rubles. The regional administration's press service said that the Region Governor, Sergei Morozov and the deputy of the Board of Directors at LLC JV Glass Holdings BV, Paul Ravenscroft signed a memorandum of intent in September. "The factory will be sited in the industrial zone Zavolzhe. The enterprise will be fitted with equipment allowing for the production of low-E energy efficient glass. Nanocoverage will be applied during production. This glass coverage process was developed by Pilkington, which will provide the technology to the plant," a company statement said. The site should produce up to 400/tpd of energy-efficient glass. More than 300 jobs will be created. The building of the factory will begin late 2013 and be finalised in 2015.
