Nizhny Novgorod-based company Nefteotdacha plans to invest RUR 4.7BN to build a glass plant as well as a mining/processing complex to produce concentrated glass sand in the region by 2011, founder of the company A.Sitnikov told reporters 5 December 2007. The enterprises will be located on an area of 2.9M/sq-m near the Pisarevsky silica sand deposit in the region's Ardatovsky district. The reserves at the deposit are estimated at 45M tonnes of sand, while annual output is expected at 1M/t. The glass plant is expected to use 240,000/tpa. The rest will be supplied to other plants in the Nizhny Novgorod region & elsewhere in Russia. It is expected the plant will produce about 1.2BN bottles/pa, Mr. Sitnikov said in a press release. Nefteotdacha received a license to develop the Pisarevsky deposit at the end of 2006.
