[Romania] New Plant Soon To Open

It was recently reported that Saint Gobain will open its EUR 100M flat glass plant in Calarasi, southern Romania, on 29 September 2006. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 180,000 tonnes of flat glass & will create 215 jobs. 50% of the plant's annual output will be exported while the remainder will be sold on the domestic market. Saint Gobain launched building work on the plant in Calarasi in June 2005 & completed work on the logistics platform and the warehouse by December 2005. The company set up a recruitment centre in November 2005 and had received 2,000 job applications by the end of the year.
