Rockware Glass: Morrison Mural Draws Attention To Glass In Knottingley

When Yorkshire based artist, Graeme Willson, was commissioned to produce a series of murals to be displayed in the new Morrisons Superstore in Knottingley, W Yorks, his research led him immediately to glass, and then to Rockware Glass, the town's major employer. Graeme, who has undertaken many commissions for Morrisons to celebrate the opening of new stores, bases his work on local history. He produced 4 murals for Knottingley based on the forces of Earth, Wind, Water and Fire, all of which are well represented in the town's past and present. "I spent some time at the Rockware factory, and glass manufacturing gave me particular inspiration for a number of the murals, especially as it has been a major feature of Knottingley for over 100 years," said Graeme.
