Rising Currents In Convection In A Basin Oven

It has often been suggested that secondary bubbles can form in rising glass currents but the process has not been examined systematically, and there is no direct evidence for it. The author has examined trends in the local surface velocity along the basin in a sheet-glass oven. Two ovens producing 270-320 t/day and having seven pairs of burners were examined and the results reported.
