Rfid Technology Requires Commitment

A von Truchseß of Metro, has said that suppliers & retailers must start using a universal standardisation of electronic product codes (EPC) for their revolutionary new system to go ahead, adding that current labelling disparity need be addressed in order to move towards product label homogeny, & revealed that major retailers & governments are already working towards developing a collective system. "We have found that everybody is committed to the standardisation: Japan, EU & the US are condoning the move, & big drivers such as Proctor & Gamble, Tesco & Wal-Mart are supporting the initiative," said Truchseß. German-based Metro Group, the world's 4th largest retailer, is working in conjunction with the likes of IBM, Microsoft, Visa, to develop an interlinking computer-aided chip system that governs the retail process from supply to point-of-sale.
