Rfid Tags And Glass Recycling Concerns

The Glass Packaging Institute (GPI) is urging developers of RFID and similar tracking technologies to consider the impact of the tags on glass recycling once the tagged bottle enters the recycling stream. GPI is working with the EPA and other federal agencies to ensure that the glass recycling stream is not negatively impacted by the emergence of RFID technology. While the make-up of tags that might be used on glass containers is not known yet, GPI urges RFID manufacturers to consider the issues.
