The glass industry consumes two thirds of the total soda ash demand in Western Europe. The relationship between the two industries has always been important. Through the last decade both industries have been affected in a similar way by many factors including the fall of communism, the German reunification and a globalisation of operations. These changes have created both opportunites but also some difficulties.
