In summer 2012, Heye asked its customers to take part in a trend survey to get an overview of the present situation and challenges of the container glass market. Heye now presents the key results of the survey. Suppliers of container glass see opportunities by investing in new technologies to increase productivity. Lightweight technology (NNPB) plays a major role in this connection. Challenges that have to be faced are e.g. the rising energy and raw material costs that remain a major cost issue. The threat of replacement of glass by other packaging materials has to be accomplished. The most important criteria for selection of suppliers to the container glass industry are Engineering and Project Management competence as well as Technical Assistance and production support to increase plant productivity. Heye, which has made a donation to UNICEF for each participant, thanks all those who took part.
