The Representation And Significance Of Observations On The Glass Melt, Taking Fluorine Gall As An Example

The purpose of publishing unusual observations in glass melting is discussed and an explanation is sought in the case of fluorine glass as an example as to what such a publication should contain to be really valuable. Data are represented on the calculation of a composition for a fluorine opal glass and the expected losses in SiF4 during melting.
