Reliability Of Fibre In Fibre Bragg Grating Devices

Among several possible failure modes in a fibre Bragg grating (FBG) device, fracture of the optical fibre is one of great importance. Reliability of fibre in such a device has to be ascertained and assured. A technique to evaluate the fibre strength in this device has been developed, and the extent of degradation due to processing and handling has been established.
