Six refractory raw materials - bauxite, brown fused alumina, graphite, dead burned magnesia, refractory clays, and silicon carbide - are the focus of this paper. These materials are significant in that they represent some of the most important raw materials for the world refractories market, and are all sourced from China. This paper summarises the principal world and Chinese sources of these minerals, along with recent trends and developments that have influenced their supply and demand.
