Refractory Materials Corrosion By Melted Slags And Glasses (In Spanish)

The corrosion of refractories by slags is of major economic importance. Due to refractory materials heterogeneity the mechanisms of attack are very complex. Consequently, most large producers and most large consumers of refractories have continuously well developed specific programs to cope with the problems of slag attack. The basic theory of corrosion of refractories by slags and glasses is reviewed and several examples are discussed. This paper is intended to summarize the principles of slag corrosion studies and the most usual tests.
