Refractories For Oxy-Fuel Fired Glass Melting Furnaces

Oxy-fuel firing of glass melting furnaces has gained increased acceptance in the last decade across all major glass industry segments. In most oxy-fuel fired furnaces, conventional Silica refractory crowns have experienced a higher rate of corrosion due to accelerated rat holing at the joints and surface corrosion. This occurs primarily due to the increased concentration of vapor phase species in the combustion space.
