Reflections: Rising Fuel Costs

Whilst rising fuel costs are difficult for Asia to deal with, the situation in Europe is becoming increasingly untenable. The rest of the Asian cost base means that intensive industries, such as crystal glass, can continue to thrive in the Far East, whilst in Europe they are being gradually forced into extinction. This article looks at how one former hotbed of activity in the UK is one of the latest to fall victim. Barbara Beadman from Plowden & Thompson, talks about how the industry is struggling to cope with the high cost of fuel, where gas prices are expected to rise (again) by 110% during 2006.
