The Reduction Of Environmental Impact By The Glass Industry - Achievements And Future Perspectives

During the last decade the glass industry has been reducing the environmental impact of the sector in terms of emissions to the atmosphere, energy consumption and production of wastes. In particular, solid and gaseous emisisons due to the melting process have been reduced by means of primary and secondary measures. The results obtained through the modification of combustion parameters, the quality of raw materials and fuel encourage the glass industry to continue the effort for the application of primary measures in order to reduce to the minimum level solid and gaseous emissions that might be further removed with the use of depollution equipment.
